SoSoBaked
The journey to baker life
Tell us a bit about yourself. What should the world know about Danielle (Dunnzii) Tan aka SoSoBaked?
Dannielle aka DUNZZII.
I am a Filipino girl, born and raised in Sydney, Australia. Loves to cook, eat, go to the gym, play basketball and drinking (tea that is). I am a down to earth person who enjoys to experience new things, whether it be by myself or with others.
I am always interested in hearing the progression of change between two new careers. You went from a Team Lead in a corporate environment to a Baker, and now, built your own baking business. Talk us through that transition/process, turning points and why you have stuck it out?
I've always had a passion for cooking/baking since high school.
I was climbing the cooperate ladder since 18 and managed a couple of customer care teams for 3 years. After my redundancy I started trailing my baking skills "manually" and casually gifting my friends cake for their birthdays.
My family, husband and girlfriends were my biggest supporters and first taste testers of my cake recipes.
I've lived by continuously teaching myself new skills and learning from my mentor Alison (Lushcups), who's taught me the tricks of the trade and work productively (in a business perspective).
Can you talk about the lessons you've learnt along the way and the growth you have endure since starting a few years ago?
Always be prepared to fix mistakes. No ones perfect, I always give myself to work a day in advance so that I give myself space and time to breathe...it's alot of work and time consuming.
When it comes to baking, what the most exciting part about the process?
Eating the cut offs.
